Living Legends DVD
Most of you are familiar with a series of interviews, Living Legends, I did with film maker and producer Greg Rike a few years ago. Those interviews, and the way they were conducted, led Greg and I to reunite for my Tracing Footsteps project, which I took on the road the last couple of years.
I met Greg through Jay Herbst, who was the head of the grassroots when it first began. The comfort zone with Greg made the interviews for Living Legends a pleasure to be involved with and doubly so for the DVD, Tracing Footsteps, which is in front of you now. I like that the beginning of the relationship started and continues as a result of the grassroots family I had a hand in putting in place with lots of folks help, including Jay Herbst, when the critical mass of getting it started properly was on the line. Jay’s introducing me to Greg Rike was one of good fortune.
Greg and his team recorded my show, which includes Gabe Ford on drums, along with stories of the road, my photography and the stories behind a select group of photos. It was done in an effortless manner involving a 5 camera shoot, an audience, a recording engineer, an intro from my dear friend, Dennis McNally. In short, Greg captured some great performances and displays of my work, supplemented with my stories.
I had a ball making it. I thank all involved in what was a wonderful handshake in Florida.
